New Year’s Day 2011

PARTY LIKE A ROCK STAR New Year's Eve party.

Happy New Year! So, here we are. We all get a fresh start. In the past I’ve hated making resolutions. They always seemed so hard to keep. But…this past year I was able to make incredible progress with some of my goals…so this year’s resolutions don’t seem so daunting. I was wondering what was so different about this last year that helped me do so much better than past years. You know what it was? Adversity. I can’t pretend I am not happy to see the year 2010 finished. It was a miserable year for me. But that’s why I was so successful in kepping my resolutions. I knew that if I exercised (no matter how much I didn’t want to) I would feel better. I knew if I didn’t work hard at school, it would take longer to finish. I knew if I didn’t do whatever it took to stay positive, I would sink fast (and I was already feeling pretty low). So, the moral of the story is this…If you want to see results you just plain have to do the work. And it’s so worth it! Don’t get discouraged! Whatever your goals are, just keep at it! It might not seem like your getting anywhere, but you’ll be amazed how far you’ve come by the end of the year. This new year brings new hope and excitement for me. I can’t wait to see what 2011 brings. Goodbye 2010! Don’t let the door hit you on the way out!

P.S. Last night we had a “Party Like a Rock Star” get-together at my house. Everyone dressed up like rock stars and we spent the night eating, dancing and laughing. I dressed up as a Robert Palmer girl. My costume started out looking pretty cool, but by the end of the night I looked like a drag queen. My bright red lipstick was faded and my eye makeup was smeared. After everyone left I noticed my reflection in the hallway mirror. “Good Grief!” Why didn’t anyone tell me! Oh well…I suppose the worse you look at the end of the night is just a sign of how much fun you had. Happy New Year!
